吸附式干燥機可分為三種:無熱再生吸附式干燥機，微熱再生吸附式干燥機和組合式干燥機。由于脫水原理的限制，冷凍式干燥機處理后的空氣壓力露點溫度只能達到：2--8℃，在一些空氣品質要求較高的場合，不能滿足用氣要求，只能使用吸附式干燥機和組合式干燥機。吸附式干燥機是根據變壓吸附原理，利用干燥機本身特有的微孔，通過毛細作用吸附空氣中的水分，利用自身及微熱再生方法對壓縮空氣進行吸附干燥，使其能達到露點溫度為-40--- - 70℃。

微熱再生吸附式壓縮空氣干燥機是一種利用多孔性固體物質（活性氧化鋁、13X分子篩）表面的分子力來吸取氣體中的水份，同時另一塔里利用壓力變化解吸氧化鋁所吸收的水分，從而獲得較低露點溫度、干燥、潔凈氣體的凈化設備.
